What would you do without diabetes for a day?

Random question I was thinking about today.

If you could magically have one completely diabetes-free day, what would you actually do with it?

At first I thought I'd just eat whatever I wanted without thinking twice 😂 But the more I thought about it, I think the best part would just be not thinking about diabetes at all. No checking numbers, worrying about food, planning around medication or wondering what something is going to do to my sugar.

I'd probably go out somewhere for the whole day and enjoy not having diabetes sitting somewhere in the back of my mind.

What would your diabetes-free day look like?

I'd eat without checking my sugar before and after and without wondering if I made a terrible decision every time I had something sweet 😂

The mental freedom around food would probably be the biggest thing for me too.

Sleep for eight hours without a CGM alarm waking me up. That's it. That's my big dream 😂

And waking up without immediately reaching for your phone to see the graph.

I'd have biryani for lunch, chai and something sweet in the evening, then go out for dinner and not think about carbs once.

You have 24 hours and you're only planning three meals? 😂

Good point. Adding a dosa breakfast immediately.

I'm prediabetic and honestly I'd just like one day where every meal doesn't turn into a debate in my head about whether I'm making things worse.

That's exactly the kind of thing I mean. Even when you're not actively doing anything about diabetes, you're still thinking about it.

I'd take my kids somewhere for the whole day without packing snacks, glucose tabs, insulin, backup supplies and enough stuff to survive a small disaster 😂

I'm pregnant with gestational diabetes right now. I'd go out for breakfast and order what I actually wanted instead of mentally calculating what my reading might be afterward.

Same. I miss being able to look at food and just see food instead of numbers.

I'd go on a long hike and not have to think about whether exercise is going to send me low halfway through it.

The idea of leaving the house with just a phone, keys and wallet sounds amazing.

Type 2 here. I don't think I'd do anything crazy. I'd just like to eat dinner with my family and not have diabetes quietly running in the background of my brain the entire time.

Yeah. I think not thinking about it would be better than any specific food.

I'd probably spend the first six hours checking my glucose out of habit and then remember I don't need to 😂
