Weekly insulin sounded simple until I read the approval details

I've been reading about once-weekly insulin and got confused about who can actually use it.

Some discussions make it sound like a general replacement for daily basal insulin, but I keep seeing that approval can depend on the country and whether someone has type 1 or type 2 diabetes.

For people who have looked into weekly insulin, did you find that the approved use was different depending on where you live? How did you check whether it was actually an option for your type of diabetes rather than just something mentioned in an article or study?

I'm trying to understand the difference between a medicine being studied, approved somewhere else, and actually being approved for a particular patient where they live.

This confused me too. I have Type 2 and initially assumed that if a weekly insulin existed, my doctor could automatically prescribe it. Then I realized the local approval and indication still matter.
