Trying to understand pregnancy planning with diabetes before we start trying

My partner and I have started thinking about having a baby, and I realized there are many things I never considered before.

I know pregnancy planning can involve more than just stopping or continuing medicines. Questions about glucose control, contraception before trying, medication changes, and breastfeeding plans all seem important.

For people who have gone through this, what conversations did you have with your doctor before pregnancy? What do you wish you had known earlier about planning, delivery, or breastfeeding?

The biggest thing I learned was to plan earlier than I expected. I thought I would only need to talk to my doctor once I was pregnant, but the preparation stage mattered too.

I would definitely ask about medicines before trying to conceive. Some treatments that are fine in one situation may need a review when pregnancy is being planned.
