Tired of people judging my Type 1 diabetes

Does anyone else get tired of people making comments about your diabetes when they barely understand it?

I've had Type 1 for a while and usually I don't mind answering genuine questions. But lately I've had people saying things like I shouldn't eat something, asking why I need insulin if I look healthy, or acting like managing diabetes is easy because there are CGMs and insulin pens now.

I know most of them probably aren't trying to be rude, but after hearing the same comments again and again it gets exhausting. Sometimes I explain everything, sometimes I just smile and change the subject.

How do you deal with people who keep giving opinions about your diabetes? Do you explain it or just stop bothering?

I only explain it if someone is genuinely curious. If they're already telling me what I should be doing, I've learned that the conversation usually isn't worth the energy.

That's probably what I need to start doing. I keep feeling like I have to correct every wrong thing someone says.
