Sick days changed how I think about diabetes management

I've been thinking about situations where normal routines suddenly change, like getting sick, not being able to eat normally, fasting, having surgery, or changing exercise habits.

Most days diabetes management follows a routine, but I imagine these situations can make things much more complicated.

For people who have gone through illness, surgery, fasting periods, or major changes in activity, what was the biggest thing you learned? Did you have a plan before it happened, or did you figure things out along the way?

I'm interested in hearing how people prepare for situations when their usual routine is disrupted.

The first time I was sick after my diabetes diagnosis, I was surprised that managing diabetes became harder even though I was eating less. I realized that normal routines don't always apply when your body is under stress.

Same experience here. I thought eating less would automatically make things simpler, but it was the opposite.
