Seven days from one insulin injection still sounds wild to me

I recently came across insulin icodec and I'm still trying to wrap my head around the idea of one basal insulin injection lasting an entire week.

With daily basal insulin, the schedule is easy for me to understand. But with a weekly insulin, I keep wondering how one injection can keep working across seven days without everything being released at once.

Has anyone had their doctor explain how insulin icodec actually stays in the body and provides a basal effect for that long? I'm also curious how people think about something that remains active for days compared with the daily insulin routines we're used to hearing about.
