My husband's sugar is always above 350 and he refuses to take diabetes seriously
My husband has Type 2 diabetes but he basically ignores it. Whenever he checks his sugar it is usually somewhere around 350 to 400, sometimes even higher.
He was given medicines but he doesn't take them regularly. Food is another battle. He'll have tea with sugar, large portions of rice, snacks, sweets etc and gets irritated if I say anything. So I've mostly stopped commenting because every conversation becomes an argument.
What is really worrying me now is that he's tired all the time and he has a small wound near his toe that has been there for weeks. It looks like it improves for a few days and then gets bad again.
I know I can't force an adult to look after himself. But how dangerous is it to stay at these sugar levels for a long time? And for anyone who has dealt with a family member like this, what finally made them take diabetes seriously?
