My doctor asked more questions before discussing weight loss medicine

I recently started looking into weight-loss medicines and expected the conversation to mainly be about choosing a medication.

Instead, I realized there are many things a doctor may need to review first, such as health history, current medicines, weight goals, and other factors that could affect whether a treatment is suitable.

For people who have gone through this process, what did your doctor ask or review before discussing options?

I'm interested in understanding what happens during the evaluation process before starting a weight-loss medicine.

I expected the appointment to be quick, but my doctor asked about my health history, medications, and previous weight-loss attempts. It made sense that they wanted the bigger picture first.
