Learning how to handle family meals with my pump

I've been wondering how practical an insulin pump is with everyday meals that are part of our culture and family life.

Foods like rice, idli, dosa, biryani and festival sweets are not something people eat only occasionally. Family gatherings and celebrations are a normal part of life, so I'm curious how people using pumps manage these situations.

For people with pumps, did it make handling different types of meals easier? How did you learn what worked for you when meals had different amounts of carbohydrates or longer digestion times?

I'd like to hear real experiences from people who use pumps with regular home food and celebrations.

The biggest change for me was learning that the pump did not make food decisions disappear. It gave me more flexibility, but I still had to understand how different meals affected my glucose.
