I'm wondering if semaglutide is a forever medication

I've been reading about semaglutide for diabetes and weight management, but one thing I keep wondering about is how long people stay on it.

Some people talk about these medicines as something they continue long term, while others talk about stopping after reaching their goals.

For people who have taken semaglutide, how do you think about the long-term plan? Did you always see it as a lifelong treatment, or did you start with the idea of using it for a certain period and then reassessing?

I'm interested in hearing how people approach this decision and what factors they consider.

When I started semaglutide, I honestly thought it would be a temporary thing until I reached my goal. After learning more, I realized it depends a lot on why someone is taking it and how their body responds.

This was my experience too. My original mindset was 'lose the weight and stop,' but I started thinking about it differently after understanding that chronic conditions often need long-term management.

I have Type 2 diabetes and my main focus is glucose control, not just weight. For me, any medication decision is something I discuss with my doctor based on how things are going.

I think this is an important distinction. The conversation can be very different for someone using it mainly for diabetes compared with someone focused mainly on weight management.
