IcoSema finally makes sense to me now

I kept seeing the name IcoSema in diabetes news and assumed it was another weekly insulin. Turns out it is a once-weekly combination of insulin icodec and semaglutide in the same treatment.

What I am still trying to get straight is who it is actually for and where it has moved beyond trials into approval. I have also seen the name Kyinsu, which made me wonder whether that is the same medicine under a brand name.

Has anyone else been following this? I am curious how people see a combined weekly insulin plus GLP-1 treatment fitting into Type 2 diabetes care.

Yes, IcoSema is the combination of insulin icodec and semaglutide. Icodec is the basal insulin part and semaglutide is the GLP-1 receptor agonist part. That distinction helped me understand why it is not simply another version of weekly insulin.

Kyinsu is the name I started seeing after the European approval. I was confused too because most of the trial news called it IcoSema.
