I thought weekly insulin would replace all my injections

I have been reading about weekly insulin and I am trying to understand how it compares with the insulin routines people already use.

One thing that confused me is whether a weekly insulin injection replaces both basal and mealtime insulin, or if some people may still need separate mealtime insulin depending on their treatment plan.
