I thought pumps were only for type 1 diabetes

I have mostly heard about insulin pumps from people with type 1 diabetes, so I was surprised to see discussions about pumps for type 2 diabetes as well.

I am trying to understand when a pump might be considered for someone with type 2 diabetes. Is it mainly about how much insulin someone needs, how well their glucose is controlled, or other factors?

For people with type 2 diabetes who use pumps, what made your doctor consider it as an option?

I had the same assumption. I always connected pumps with type 1 diabetes, but later learned that some people with type 2 diabetes may also use them depending on their situation.

Same here. I think a lot of people only hear about pumps in the type 1 context, so the type 2 discussion can be confusing at first.
