I didn't realize every diabetes device has different rules

I've been learning more about diabetes technology and one thing that confused me is that not every device seems to have the same restrictions.

A CGM sensor, transmitter, reader, phone app and insulin pump can all be part of the same system, but I am not sure whether each component has its own rules for things like scans, travel, security checks, water exposure or other situations.

For people who use multiple diabetes devices, how do you keep track of all these differences? Did you learn this over time or is there a good way to organize the information?

I'm interested in hearing how people manage the practical side of using several connected devices together.

This was confusing when I first started using a CGM and pump together. I assumed everything had the same restrictions because they were part of one system.

Same here. I didn't realize the sensor and the pump could have different instructions until I started reading the device information more carefully.

I keep the manuals and device information saved because I forget the details. There are too many small differences to remember everything.

This is a good idea. Technology changes often, so having the official information available is useful.

The phone part surprised me because people often think of it as just an app, but it can have its own compatibility requirements.

Yes, I used to think replacing a phone would be simple until I realized it could affect how I use my diabetes devices.

I learned this before traveling. Instead of checking only the pump, I started checking every device I carry because they may not all have the same guidance.
