Airport security with my pump has me confused

I am planning to travel with an insulin pump for the first time and I am not sure what to expect at airport security.

I have seen people mention different experiences with scanners, metal detectors, and requesting alternative screening. I do not want to create problems at the airport, but I also do not want to put my pump at risk by going through equipment that may not be recommended for my device.

For people who travel with pumps, what do you usually do before reaching security? Do you carry any documents or request a different screening method?

I always check the travel guidance for my exact pump model before a trip. Different devices can have different instructions, so I do not rely only on what another pump user experienced.

The first time I traveled with my pump I was more nervous than I needed to be. Now I just tell security staff that I have a medical device and follow the instructions for my pump.
